Glossary

VAX: The term Virtual Array Extension is the name for a series of computers developed by DEC. On these machines the core RAM is extended by the memory of fast hard-disk drives.
VMS: The Virtual Memory System is an operating system developed by DEC for VAX computers. A competitor to Unix systems in the past, VMS is but rarely used today.
