The Standard Generalized Markup Language is a language for text-formatting which has been standardized in 1986 by ISO. This language (ISO 8879) is also the base for the definition of HTML.
Also called robot or crawler. A program which scans and analyzes HTML documents for further processing (e.g. for a search engine). During the scanning process, the program may also automatically follow hypertext references in the documents, so that the complete document tree of a web-site can be caught.
The Structured Query Language is used to process information of relational databases. It also allows to distribute the computational processes required for the database queries if used within a network.
